Taylor McKenzie Byrne

Taylor McKenzie Byrne was born August, 8, 1988 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She attended Northeast Academy for Health Sciences and Engineering from 1999-2006. Ms. Byrne was involved in softball, volleyball, tennis (1st singles/competed at the State level), the French Club (secretary), Student Council, BPA, Youth and Government and the National Honor's Society. While at Northeast, she challenged herself by taking Advanced Placement (9th-12th) and Dual Enrollment Courses (11th-12th). Ms. Byrne also represented her 10th grade class as Homecoming attendant and was voted Most Talented in her graduating class. Byrne sang at homecoming coronations in 2004 & 2005 and in 2006 graduated from NEA to attend Langston University on a full academic scholarship.
While at Langston, Ms. Byrne became Miss Orange and Blue of 2006, Miss Langston University 2008, Miss Oklahoma State Fair 2007, 2nd Runner up and overall Talent winner at Miss Oklahoma 2008, and 5th runner up to Miss Oklahoma USA 2011 as Miss Logan County. Byrne also became a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, and Captain of the Golden Feline Dancers for the Langston University Marching Pride Band. She also studied abroad in the Gambia, West Africa and Senegal obtaining 19+ hours of French courses. Byrne graduated from LU the Fall of 2012 with a degree in Biology Education.
Recently, Byrne can be seen on the American Idol website. Byrne auditioned for Season 12 of American Idol and proceeded past the judges round and to Hollywood. Byrne made it to the top 150 females for American Idol and was later eliminated during the Hollywood Rounds. Now, Ms. Byrne works at US Grant High School as a 10th grade Biology teacher and intends to continue to pursue a career in music.
