Class of 1997
Perry Mason was accepted for the McNair Scholarship and a half scholarship to attend Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia and majored in Sociology. He would later receive a scholarship as an Adams Community Service Scholar, and graduated in 2001 with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Sociology graduating Cum Laude. His extracurricular activities included being dorm president, a peer educator, serving on sophomore & junior class councils, and finishing as senior class president.
In 2001 he moved to Dayton, Ohio and began to work in education, by serving as a counselor with an alternative charter school, a classroom teacher, helped students who dropped out of school, he volunteered and ran a leadership development program for the Dayton Urban League, and would later obtain a position as a 7th and 8th grade social studies teacher for the past four years after completing his post graduate education to become a licensed teacher at Antioch Western, while being married for 11 years with 4 children living in a suburb of Dayton, Ohio.
